Priscilla Hauser

Known as the "First Lady of Decorative Painting," Priscilla Hauser is a familiar face to acrylic painting  artists. A burning desire to paint at a young age stayed with her throughout her growing up years and later in her life. Priscilla Hauser was always fascinated with color, often standing at a cosmetic counter as a child, watching while the saleslady demonstrated all the colorful products available.

Despite her love for painting, Priscilla Hauser wound up in Dental Hygiene School.  According to Priscilla herself, her parents would not pay for art school, but they would finance her dental  hygiene education. That is how she ended up in the dental hygiene field. Eventually, however, her desire to paint won and Priscilla Hauser began her first project,  painting on a salt shaker.

Priscilla Hauser began as a tole painter in Raytown, Missouri, in the early 1960's when she took classes at the YMCA. In the ensuing years she has become a world renowned teacher, author, and founder of the National Society Of Tole and Decorative Painters.   Priscilla has many  instructional books to her credit. Her vibrant personality has made her a very popular guest on The Carol Duvall Show. With "Yes, you can" as her motto, Priscilla Hauser is a great encouragement to her students.

When she and her husband Jerry bought their first home, Priscilla Hauser began to paint items to decorate her home. These items soon drew the admiration of neighbors and friends who, after seeing what she had painted, convinced her to start to teach a class. Gathering around a Ping Pong table in her garage with her friends, Priscilla Hauser began sharing her talent.

As the class grew and grew, other neighbors became involved and called the zoning commission to report all the cars flooding the area around Priscilla Hauser's home and neighborhood. She was given 30 days in which to relocate to a suitable place to teach. That is how "Priscilla's Little Red Tole House" came to be. In addition, Priscilla Hauser shares her talents at her "Studio By the Sea" in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Priscilla Hauser enjoys traveling the world and has taught throughout the United States, as well as in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Japan, and throughout Europe. In addition, she has worked with chemists in the industry to develop new and improved products. We owe Priscilla Hauser many thanks for what she has taught acrylic painters everywhere.
